From the Publishers

It's August, supposedly the dog days of summer; however, with the fair amount of cool days and afternoon downpours in June and July, the dog days of sweltering heat may evade us. Regardless of the heat index, August conjures up visions of schoolbooks, foo

August represents our eighth month in circulation. We are growing strong, and, as the publishers, we laugh at our luck because neither one of us had a plan when we went to press in January with a 4-page newsletter. Our mission back then: Let's go for it and see what happens. We soon discovered that we were in the right place at the right time - the old entrepreneurial recipe for success: Find a need and fill it.
We hope we are filling that need for you, and what we have found, from talking to residents and business owners, is that Falcon was missing an identity symbol and an advertising avenue for all businesses that wanted to reach the community. Other newspapers, like the Black Forest News and the Ranchland News, covered many of the issues in Falcon. But "Falconites" wanted a separate identity, and a newspaper can enhance a particular area's persona.
We made a pledge not to solicit advertising in Black Forest or Calhan and further east (unless someone calls us). We may have started out uncalculated, but we have tried to scoot along with integrity and professionalism. We hope you agree.
Anyway, our Web site is almost ready (thanks again to Kathleen Wallace), and we are looking at other ways to improve on the paper (inserts and some color) and add to your reading pleasure.
As always, we welcome your comments.
