The Woodmen Hills Craft Show and Business Expo will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Patriot Learning Center at Pikes Peak Community College, 11990 Swingline Road in Falcon. Come and start your holiday shopping and support local businesses. There will be a variety of vendors, food and drinks as well as fun for the kids, including a jumper, clown/face painting, horseback rides and a petting zoo. Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce offers seminar

On Oct. 27 from 7:30 to 9 a.m., the Easter Plains Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar, "Friend Me, Follow Me, Find Me! - The Business Benefits of Social Media" at the Pikes Peak Community College Falcon campus. More than 50 percent of businesses and organizations are using social media to market a message, attract customers and promote their cause. This seminar will provide valuable information on how to use social media to strengthen business. Presented by Laura Benjamin, author and personal coach, the seminar is the first offering of its kind by the Eastern Plains Chamber University, formed to provide valuable business-oriented seminars to members of EPCC and other area business owners. The Buffalo Grass Acoustic Society offers entertainment for all ages. The group meets on the third Friday from September through May at the Cowboy Church of Peyton, 15540 Bradshaw Road (one mile north of Murphy Road). Open jam session begins at 5:30 p.m. and concerts start at 7 p.m. Concerts include two open-stage performers followed by a featured act. Refreshments are available. TOPS, Take off Pounds Sensibly, has been around for many years, but chapter #658 in Peyton was established June 2007. TOPS is an international nonprofit organization consisting of men and women with the common interest of losing weight. Members learn from and support one another through group participation, while reaching individual weight goals. The goal is to lose weight sensibly, safely and to keep the weight off. All information is confidential among group members.
Meetings are held every Tuesday at Woodmen Hills Community Center West at 11720 Woodmen Hills Drive in Falcon. The weigh-in is 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The TOPS mission is to help people lose weight and get healthy through support and encouragement. Any spouse of a current member can join for half price. The cost for a membership to TOPS is $26, which includes a news magazine published 10 times a year. Shriners free screening clinic

The Shriners have 22 hospitals in the United States, Canada and Mexico that provide hospital care for children at no cost. On the second Saturday of each month, the Colorado Springs Shrine Club hosts a free screening clinic for children in the area who may need hospital care. The clinic is at 6 S. 33rd St., and the hours are 10 a.m. to noon.

American Legion membership meeting

The American Legion Post 2008 in Falcon meets at the Falcon fire station off Meridian Road. The group meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. New members from the Falcon/Peyton area are welcome. The American Legion is the oldest military affiliated organization in the U.S. Retired, active and past members of the U.S. military are eligible for membership. POTLUCK LUNCHEON
The next luncheon will be Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Falcon Baptist Church, 11095 Eggar Road in Falcon. The main dish will be Mexican casseroles. Bring a favorite sandwich cut into fourths and put into a plastic bag. Bring a salad, side dish or dessert. Table service and beverages will be provided. Danny Masters will perform classical guitar music.

KIDS SIGHT
Call Dr. Andrew Royer at 886-4770 to volunteer to help with Kids Sight, an eye screening program for school children sponsored by Falcon Lions Club held in August.

TRANSPORTATION
A 10-passenger mini bus with two wheelchair lifts is now in service to transport area residents who have no other source of transportation to doctor and outpatient surgery appointments. To schedule a ride, call 495-6594 two weeks before service is needed. There is no charge to ride the bus, but donations are gratefully accepted to help defray costs.
