  Annual car show

American Legion Post 2008 held its annual car show Aug. 8 at 10707 Maltese Point. Pete Gawda was there to check out the cars and take photos.
Jeanie and Jack Ally had their 1930 Ford on display.
Bob Ingram brought his 1935 Ford to the event.
Bill Schwindt participated in the car show with his 1949 Dodge pickup.
It took Randy Kelly four years to build this one-ofa-kind pickup truck, built from a 1950 International one-and-a-half-ton truck.
Doug Fisher (left) and Jacob Gulden represented the U.S. Navy recruiting program at the car show.

There is an interesting story behind this restored 1937 International pickup. John Babig began to restore the truck in 1994; unfortunately, he passed away before he could complete the project. The truck was sold in 2017. Then, in 2020, his daughter, Susan Hernandez, bought the truck back, finished restoration and now displays it in memory of her father. Check out the Buddy Holly record design that adorns the back tire.
